Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said that he is "open to any dialogue" with the United States regarding anything which is based on "mutual respect".

According to CBS News, Assad said that every dialogue was something positive and that they will be open to all dialogues with anyone.

There are currently no talks between Syria and the U.S., said Assad as he responded to US Secretary of State John Kerry's comments about a potential willingness by the U.S. to negotiate with President Assad.

Assad's regime has entered its fifth year of a brutal civil war that has resulted in the deaths of more than 210,000 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
