Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Tuesday appreciated the work being done by the Pakistan-India Joint Business Forum towards augmenting bilateral, economic and trade relations between the Asian neighbours.

Speaking at the sixth meeting of Pakistan-India Joint Business Forum in New Delhi, High Commissioner Basit said the work and recommendations of the Forum would come in handy whenever the comprehensive dialogue between the two countries commences.

Highlighting the opportunities for strengthening relations that exist between the two countries, the High Commissioner stressed on the need to embark on a process that is both sustainable and mutually beneficial.

"We need to create a level-playing field that helps create inter-dependencies. This is also necessary in the context of promoting regional connectivity and integration," he said.

He also said that Pakistan is committed to normalizing relations with India in line with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's vision of a peaceful neighbourhood.

"We have a long way to go but we cannot give up. We must work together to ensure peace and prosperity for posterity," High Commissioner Basit added.
