BBC Radio 1 has denied the rumors that claim that they banned Madonna from their playlist due to her age.

Station's Facebook page was flooded with messages urging the network to play the 56-year-old singer's single 'Living for Love' as part of the station's 10-Minute Takeover feature, the BBC reported.

The fans, many from South America, accused the network of being "discriminatory".

In a statement, Radio 1 said that the tracks were chosen on musical merit and their relevance to their young audience on a case-by-case basis, and while around 40 percent of the country's 15 to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist's age was never a factor.

Radio 1 DJ Diplo has also interfered into the argument, tweeting that, "tell @BBCR1 age ain't nothing but a # and support Nicki Minaj and Madonna".

Madonna, who has been making news for being banned from BBC Radio 1 playlist, has been getting lot of support from her fans after it was reported that the radio network might have banned the singer due to her age.
