BBC is reportedly planning to pull in Rory Kinnear for the role of 'Doctor Who' as the current lead Matt Smith will be leaving the TV show by the end of 2013.

A source told UK's Telegraph that the renowned British stage star, who played MI6 officer Bill Tanner in 'Skyfall' and 'Quantum of Solace', has been offered the part and they are waiting to hear if he will accept, News.com.au reported.

The insider said that he is the perfect choice.

Although Kinnear, 35, has been shy on rumors linking him to the programme and said that he has never watched the show.

He added that he might be used as a decoy on that front.
