Veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian, who played a pivotal role in Melbourne Renegade's 13-run victory in the Big Bash League (BBL) final against Melbourne Stars on Sunday, is aiming to make a comeback to the Australian team, again.
The 35-year-old said that he is playing a good cricket and is at the top of his game at the moment that increases his chances of making a comeback.
"I think I can (play for Australia again), yeah. I think I'm playing as good cricket - if not better cricket - than I have my entire career," Cricket.com.au quoted Daniel, as saying.
"The beauty of not playing four-day cricket for the last 12 months is being able to focus on my skills, particularly my batting and slogging at the end. I've been practicing slower balls and yorkers and things like that. I feel like I'm on top of my game," he added.
Talking about the BBL final match against Melbourne Stars, where Christian produced an all-round performance by picking two wickets and scoring 38 runs, the cricketer said that victory was "extraordinary" and hasn't sunk in yet.

"That's an extraordinary game. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. For us to pull that back and win by 20 or 15 or whatever was just extraordinary. At 0-93, looking over at their bench and knowing they still had (Glenn) Maxwell, (Peter) Handscomb, (Nic) Maddinson, Dwayne Bravo and these sort of blokes still to come, we were staring down the barrel," he said.
"You take a couple of wickets and you never know. And sure enough, we just kept taking them. It was an extraordinary half an hour. The game was almost done … For us to fight back like that and get over the line - we still haven't played a perfect game of cricket yet all year. They got off to a flyer with the bat and we scrapped really well. It's a testament to the guys and the way they've gone about it all year," he added.
Christian has played a total of 19 one-day matches scoring 273 runs with an average of 21.0 and taking 20 wickets with an economy rate of 4.91.
