The BCCI has blamed worn-out practice wickets at the Gabba for causing injuries to their star players Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli before the play on the fourth day of the second Test against Australia at Brisbane.

Opener Dhawan was unable to resume his innings as he was rushed for scans after he was hit on the right wrist during warm up.

BCCI said that Indian team had been asking for the fresh net practice wickets several times for last two days which were not provided, adding that their batsmen were injured on account of practicing on worn out wickets which had uneven bounce.

In response, Brisbane curator Kevin Mitchell stated that the practice wickets were fine and just like match pitch, adding that they never had a complaint from another touring team.

Australia have won the second Test against India on the second Test by four wickets to lead the four match Test series 2-0.
