The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on May 22 in Mumbai to elect its new president following the resignation of Shashank Manohar.

Manohar, who on Tuesday resigned as the president of the BCCI, was on Thursday elected unanimously and unopposed as the chairman of the International Cricket Council.

He is the first elected independent chairman of the game's governing body and will commence his two-year term with immediate effect.

As per the BCCI rules, an SGM has to be convened within 15 days, apprising the members of the current situation.

As the current secretary of the BCCI, the onus lies on Anurag Thakur to call the SGM.
