The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a five-year ban on Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf after he was found guilty of corruption practices and misconduct.
The 59-year-old was accused of placing bets during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League and was also named as a 'wanted accused' in the Mumbai Police's charge sheet.
Rauf was charged with an offence under articles 2.2.2, 2.3.2, 2.3.3 and 2.4.1 of the BCCI's Anti-corruption Code, ESPNcricinfo reported.
The ban prohibits Rauf from all cricket-related activities, which includes umpiring or playing or representing cricket in any form or being associated with activities of the BCCI and its affiliates.
Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had dropped Rauf from officiating at the ICC Champions Trophy after the allegations against him broke out.
Rauf, who joined the ICC's elite panel in 2006, has officiated in 49 Tests, 98 ODIs and 23 T20 internationals so far.
