Aviation expert Harshvardhan and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar said on Friday that better security measures need to be adopted to avoid incidents like what happened with the Malaysian Airlines plane MH 17 over Ukrainian air space.

Harshvardhan said, "Let us create more safety for the common traveler. If the civil aircraft also comes suddenly, this type of things should not happen. From this incident, the civil aviation industry should learn lessons and think how to protect better."

"We will avoid the route. The other route will be a bit longer and operation charges will be more, but money does not matter when it comes to safety," he added.

Tariq Anwar told ANI, "It is very sad. The areas which have terrorism like this, is very dangerous for everyone. Joint action needs to be taken against this worldwide. Because of such incidents, innocent people are killed. It's a matter of serious concern for which at least the major countries should come forward and take necessary steps against such kind of terrorism."

"In the light of orders received from Supreme Court, we must see what can be done to provide security to people," he added.

A Malaysian airliner carrying 295 people on board crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border, cited the Russia's Interfax news agency report.

The plane was enroute to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, and it is being rumored that it was shot down. The Malaysian plane had fallen from a height of 10,600 metres and all passengers on board, including the crew died in the tragedy.

Parts of the aircraft, human remains, money, gadgets and passports were spread across the region of Grabovo and Rassypnaya in Eastern Ukaraine.
