Co-editor of the book "Getting India Back on Track ", Bibek Debroy said here today that the Union Government has already implemented many suggestions contained in the book since coming to office.

"There are some suggestions in the book which have already been implemented by the Government in the last two weeks," Debroy said during the book launch.

"As one of the co-editors I am glad that prime minister has agreed to release this book. The seeds of this book is

based on a casual conversation that India had gone off track and it had been derailed. So we thought why not get a

collection of papers together. When you see the book you will realise that each and every one of the paper writers is a respected name. So why dont we get a collection of paper writers to write a series of papers on different areas for presentation to the new government arguing out the case for the reforms that would be necessary to get India back on track," he added.

"When you look at the papers, it straddles on a wide range of subjects: macro-economy, fiscal, agriculture, manufacturing, defence, law and order, foreign policy," he further added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday released a book Getting India Back on Track: An Action Agenda For Reform' edited by Bibek Debroy, Ashley J. Tellis and Reece Trevor at his 7 Race Course Road (RCR) residence.

The book has been published by Carnegie Endowment For International Peace. The foreword of the book has been written by Ratan N Tata and it contains insightful essays by eminent academicians and public policy experts.

A PMO tweet quoted saying that the book talks about getting India back on the path of good governance and development, subjects that are very close to the prime minister.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was also present during the book launch which was also attended by

academicians, industry leaders and several distinguished guests from all walks of life.
