Pope Francis has declared that Big Bang" and evolution theories are real and essential to understanding God.
The pontiff told the Pontifical Academy of Sciences that the scientific theories are not incompatible with the existence of a creator and that God isn't 'a magician with a magic wand', News.com.au reported.
He said that when people about Creation in Genesis, they run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything, which isn't the case.
He said that God created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfillment and the Big Bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator but, rather, requires it.
The Pope added that the evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.
