Bihar's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit has decided not to celebrate Diwali in the state due to the Patna serial blasts that happened on October 27, which claimed six lives.
Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh said that the party will pray for the families of all those who lost their lives, instead of celebrating the festival of light.
"Why do we celebrate Diwali when there was a bomb blast and many people died in that? 23 children died after eating mid day meal in a school. How can we celebrate when few families are mourning the death of their loved ones?" he questioned.
"In such sad situation, let others celebrate Diwali. We cannot enjoy. We are praying for the families, instead of celebrating Diwali," he added.
Six people were killed and 83 injured in the low intensity blasts that rocked Patna between 9.30 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. on October 27 shortly before Narendra Modi's 'Hunkar rally' in Gandhi Maidan.
Four people have been arrested in the case so far, while several others have been detained.

Earlier on November 1, one of the main accused in the Patna serial blasts died of his injuries.
Modi, who arrived in Patna on November 1, met the families of the Patna serial blast victims.
