Bihar polls: 35.68 percent turnout till 12 p.m.

A voter turnout of 35.68 percent was recorded till 12 p.m. on Sunday in the ongoing fourth phase of the five phase Bihar assembly elections.

Voter turnout of 40.03 percent was recorded in West Champaran District, 37.84 percent in East Champaran, 32.09 percent in Sheohar, 31.33 percent in Sitmarhi, 36.97 percent in Muzaffarpur, 35.58 percent in Gopalganj and 31.24 percent in Siwan.

A total of 776 candidates are battling for 55 seats across seven districts of West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Gopalgunj and Siwan.

Over 1.20 lakh jawans of security forces have been deployed and security forces staged a flag march in sensitive areas to instill confidence among electorates.

 

Polling time in 43 constituencies is 7 am to 5 pm, while in four Naxal-affected constituencies, it will conclude at 3 pm and in eight constituencies at 4 pm.
