Congress MP and former minister of state for external affairs, Shashi Tharoor, on Wednesday backed Pakistan's former defence minister Chaudhary Ahmad Mukthar's revelation that the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad was known to the then president Asif Ali Zardari and said the expose was completely true.
"There is no doubt that entire theory by Pakistan Army showing them innocent in the Bin Laden business has been blown out. Ironically, it is not India's issue, but it is for us how to take up relations with Pakistan," Tharoor told ANI here.
He also said that now it is up to the United States what to do with this revelation while asserting it proved that neither the words of the Pakistan Government or their military could be trusted.
After his interview to CNN-IBN was broadcast, Mukhtar, however, denied making any such claims, saying that the reporting was "utter nonsense."
According to The Express Tribune, Mukhtar said his statements have been taken out of context.
