Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's 'Birdman,' emerged as the big winner at the 2015 Oscars.

The American black comedy-drama film starring Michael Keaton nabbed 4 of the major awards in the 9 categories it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director for Inarritu, Original Screenplay and Cinematography.

The film that also stars Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts, follows protagonist Riggan Thomson (Keaton) a faded Hollywood actor famous for his role as superhero Birdman, as he struggles to mount a Broadway adaptation of a short story by Raymond Carver.

Though 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' too claimed 4 awards including Best Production Design, Original Score, Make-up and Styling, and Costume Design, it wasn't able to bag the major titles.

The 87th Academy Awards were being held at Dolby Theatre in London.
