Midfielder David Silva opened the account for City by scoring a goal in the 16th minute of the match before defender Julian Korb smashed an equalizer, the Guardian reported.
Three minutes before the half time, forward De Araujo Raffael put Borussia ahead by scoring the second goal for his side.
It was in the 79th minute of the game when Sterling netted his first goal for City followed by his second, just two minutes later.
Forward Wilfried Bony thumped the fourth goal for his side in the 85th minute to make it 4-2 against the visitors.
