Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday ridiculed Rahul Gandhi for his scant knowledge on the presence of Hitler and Mussolini-like figures in his own party, while at the same time taking strong exception to Gandhi comparing Narendra Modi with the two former dictators.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) and his party (Congress) are so stressed because they are staring at a defeat in the coming general elections. The Congress has lost their sense, and hence, they are distorting history and geography. The country needs answers from the Congress as to why they did not create jobs, and why unemployment still persists? Why did the Congress-led UPA unleash corruption, and damage internal security? The nation wants to know why is the security apparatus so lackadaisical and weak?" Naqvi said.
"Instead of providing solutions to issues which the nation is grappling, he (Rahul Gandhi) talks about Hitler and Mussolini. If he (Rahul Gandhi) indeed wants to know details about Hitler and Mussolini, then he (Rahul Gandhi) need not have to go elsewhere, it is all present within the Congress itself. If one reads the history of the Congress, then he (Rahul Gandhi) will discover everything about it," Naqvi added.
In a massive rally in Balasinor in central Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi had on Tuesday taken on Narendra Modi and drew a parallel between the BJP prime ministerial candidate and German dictator Adolf Hitler.
