The Congress party on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is refusing to take action against Shiv Sena's hooliganism and is turning a blind eye to what is prevailing in Maharashtra, to continue to stay in power.

"The BJP has totally compromised itself and is refusing to take action against such hooliganism that prevails in Mumbai and Maharashtra. I would say that it is a compromise to continue to stay in power and turning a blind eye to all that we have been seeing in Shiv Sena and not making them accountable of what they are doing," Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi told ANI.

"Democracy gives you the space to protest but doesn't give you the right to take law and order in hands and protest the way you feel like," she added.

The Shiv Sainiks had earlier stormed into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office to protest against the meeting with the Pakistan Cricket board to discuss the India-Pakistan bilateral series slated for December.
They cornered BCCI president Shashank Manohar and protested saying they will not allow any cricket ties with Pakistan.
Following Shiv Sena's protest at the BCCI Headquarters, the discussion over reviving cricket ties between the two nations has been cancelled.
