A top CPIM leader in Tripura has viewed that the people of neighbouring Assam brought the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power as there was no other option.
He apprehended that it will not bring any change in the socio-economy of the state rather damage the unity.
Speaking to media at the end of two days state CPIM committee meeting the state secretary of the party, Bijan Dhar on Friday afternoon alleged the BJP is working in the India's northeast to fulfill the desired strategy of United State and towards stopping the growth and influence of China in this region.
"There was no alternative to the non-performing government and corrupt government led by Congress I, naturally Left is weak. For this reason the people (of Assam), they felt that at least this government should go and someone should come. Who can come, the BJP forces. I think that this will damage the unity of the people of the state and it will actually strengthen the hand of RSS-BJP to act their east policy, implement their act east policy that is not only Northeast region, that to surround this the American strategy to surround China. This is their act east policy," said Dhar.
"There will be no change in the socio-economic condition in Assam, it will be same because the central government led by BJP, they are damaging the economy of the country itself. So, Assam will not be able to rise."
Dhar added that in Tripura also, BJP would try to expand their network after formation of their new government in Assam but the people of the state as earlier will always resist the divisive and communal forces to maintain the peace and harmony.
The BJP created history in Assam on May 19, winning 60 of the 126 assembly seats up for grabs. Its coalition partners - the Asom Gani Parishad and the Bodoland People's Front secured 14 and 12 seats respectively. All three together secured 86 of the 126 assembly seats.
