The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said that the results of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election turned out to be boon for the saffron party along with Shiv Sena.
"An election which was termed as a rival between Shiv Sena and the BJP, it has turned out to be boon for both the parties particularly in Thane and Mumbai where both the parties have cornered majority of the seats in those municipalities," BJP leader S. Prakash told ANI.
He added that the Congress could not even get half the seats which they had won earlier.
"In many other municipalities as well, BJP has emerged a clear winner," Prakash emphasized.
He asserted that the results suggests clear rejection to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and his leadership.
"Even the divided Shiv Sena-BJP could not be defeated by the Congress party and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)," he said.
