Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader V K Singh condemned Moradabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharamvir for holding the party responsible for the violence in Kanth.

Singh said that no SSP has the right to make such statements.

"No SSP should comment and give such a statement because he is in the administration, not in any political party. He should do his job. If he thinks that he has become the SSP with the support of the Samajwadi Party (SP), then it is unfortunate. The law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh is worsening day by day, I appeal to the government to improve it," said Singh.

Another BJP leader Srikant Sharma said that instead of acting against criminals, the SSP in Moradabad is behaving like a spokesperson of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

"We condemn the way the administration did a one sided investigation in the Moradabad incident and tried to ruin the situation. Instead of enquiring against the criminals, the police is talking as the SP's spokesperson," said Sharma.

Criticising the SP, he added, "They are not able to accept their defeat in the elections. The Akhilesh Government is trying to hide the worsening condition of Uttar Pradesh for which they want to spread communal tension everywhere. But the people know the legacy of the Akhilesh Government. They will be removed from power very soon and their attempt to do votebank politics for electoral gains will not benefit them."

Earlier today, Moradabad SSP Daharmvir had made a statement to the media saying that the situation in Kanth got tense only after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a Mahapanchayat because they called it despite denial of permission from the administration. He also blamed BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Sarvesh Singh for polarizing the situation as assembly by-elections are round the corner.
