Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has accused both the Congress Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of doing nothing for both Hindus and Muslims.
Raising the electoral pitch, Kejriwal said existing political parties only encourage and create riot-like situations ahead of polls for personal benefit.
"When riots take place, Hindus make a beeline for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Muslims for the Congress Party or the Samajwadi Party. Till today, neither has the BJP done anything for Hindus nor has the Congress done anything for Muslims," Kejriwal said.
Activist-turned-politician Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister of Delhi on February 14, frustrated by obstacles put in the way of an anti-corruption bill, and immediately proposed fresh elections for the capital.
A former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, Kejriwal made a stunning debut in the Delhi s state elections last December, tapping into public disgust with corruption and misgovernance.
He shook up the political landscape with promises to change a rotten system, just months before general elections.

Kejriwal maintains that both BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, should be defeated in order to break the stranglehold of these two parties over the nation.
"All of these parties are the same. There characters are the same; all of them indulge in corruption, and a majority of the leaders are from the BJP and the Congress. It is important to defeat both these parties this time, not by number of seats, but by defeating the main leaders of these parties - Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi," Kejriwal said.
The AAP plans to contest at least 350 of the 543 seats at stake in the Lok Sabha, and has promised to field strong candidates against a string of high-ranking politicians whom Kejriwal has described as corrupt.
