The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs staged a protest inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today demanding the arrest of National Conference leader and former Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo.

BJP leader Ravindra Raina told the media that Justice Gandhi Commission's report on the Kishtwar communal riots has held Kitchloo responsible for the clashes.

"There were communal clashes on August 9, 2013 in Kishtwar after which Justice Gandhi Commission was constituted to investigate the matter. According to the Gandhi Commission report, the Home Minister in National Conference Government Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo was responsible for the clashes," Raina said.

Raina further accused Kitchloo of attempting to divide the communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The entire incident happened on his directions. They tried to break the Hindu-Muslim unity that exists in the state. Now that the matter is clear, the government must arrest Sajjad Kitchloo and other two people accused, these people are murders," he said.

The then National Conference Government in Jammu and Kashmir had on August 23, 2013, appointed a Commission of Inquiry by Justice (retired) R.C. Gandhi to probe the Kishtwar communal clashes in which three persons had died and several others were injured.
