The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said it was 'appalling' that the Congress has accused it of using diversionary tactics on terrorism, adding that the latter has been speaking out of turn whenever the issue of terrorism cropped up.

"It is absolutely appalling to learn that the Congress is accusing BJP of using diversionary tactics on terrorism. It has been Congress party, in fact, which has been all these years using diversionary tactics and speaking out of turn whenever the issue of terrorism cropped up," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.

"We have seen in the past that by coining the term Hindu terror, how the whole issue of terrorism was diverted and oxygen was provided to Pakistan," he added.

According to reports, senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram had earlier accused Home Minister Rajnath Singh of using 'diversionary tactics' a day after the latter accused the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government of "weakening India's fight against terrorism" by coining the term "Hindu terror".
