Coming down heavily on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said the Electoral Voting Machine (EVM) tampering demo in the special session of the Delhi Assembly was conducted only to divert everyone's attention from Kejriwal's corruption charges.
"Whatever happened in the Assembly was a big joke. This was done only to divert everyone's attention from the corruption charges," BJP leader Shazia Ilmi told ANI.
Meanwhile, another BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain asserted that EVM demonstration was a complete drama.
"That was not a demonstration, but only a drama. It was conducted to divert everyone's attention from corruption allegations on Kejriwal. The AAP has misused the assembly by conducting such dramas. It is a stain on Indian democracy," Hussain said.
Earlier on Tuesday, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj gave a live demo in the Delhi Assembly on the ways EVMs can be rigged.
Bharadwaj explained how different parts of an EVM work and then conducted a mock poll on a voting machine he had carried in to the assembly.
The test was conducted on a machine "similar" to an EVM and not an original EVM, he clarified.
