The Congress on Monday said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not know how to govern the nation, as it has shrunken the Indian economy in the past 60 months, which is unlike any other previous ruling government.
"Tomorrow the NDA-led BJP Government would be completing 40 months in office. The essence of these 40 months can be summed up in one sentence that this government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not know how to govern this country.
This government has the privilege of actually shrinking the Indian economy. No government in the past 70 years has shrunk this economic pie as this government has done in the past 60 months," Congress leader Manish Tiwari said, while addressing a press conference.
He added that every government can be bench-marked on five standards, namely social cohesion, political stability, internal security, economic development and international relations.
"In all these five benchmarks, this government has been proven to be an utter failure. Social cohesion is in shreds, federalism has been repeatedly assaulted by this government, internal security is in shambles be it Kashmir, the Northeast and naxal areas. Moreover, demonetisation is the biggest scam which has been perpetrated. It has completely wiped out the informal economy," Tiwari asserted.
He further said that the performance of the BJP Government can be summed up in one sentence that it has nothing to offer to the people of India.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the BJP conducted a national executive meeting which was attended by thirteen Chief Ministers of the BJP ruled states, 1400 legislators, 280 Parliamentarians - in all around 2,500 delegates.
