In a run-up to the upcoming national polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has launched a website to collect funds online for its campaign.
The website that was launched in New Delhi, and has been named as 'Modi for PM fund'.
BJP president Rajnath Singh said: "We have determined a limit for the donations. One can donate starting from just 1 rupee (0.02USD) to 1000 rupees (16.25 USD) and the upper limit is of 1 lakh rupees (1625.47 USD). One can donate funds using our website. I believe the launch of this website will develop an emotional connection between the party and our supporters."
Rajnath Singh kick-started the funds-raising campaign by donating Rs.1000 himself.
Piyush Goyal, another BJP leader, said: "The chief has set a target of reaching out to at least 10,000 houses. For doing so, each worker of the party will have to reach out to 100 houses. He or she can even collect support from more houses. It has been decided that all of us, who are sitting on the stage, will also go to collect donations and develop a hearty relationship with our sympathizers and supporters."
This initiative of the party was similar to a fund-raising campaign of Common Man party that made government in Delhi state, sidelining country's two major parties.
BJP, however, denied being influenced by the Common Man party module.
