The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has repotedly sought improved coordination with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the wake of the controversy generated by the release from prison of Kashmiri separatist Masarat Alam.
The issue and its fallout was reportedly raised by BJP general secretary Ram Madhav when he met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday night in Jammu. Other issues were also discussed.
BJP president Amit Shah sent Madhav as the party's emissary to Mufti to ensure that the BJP is always taken onboard before the state government takes any decision on issues related to the state and to national security.
It was reportedly conveyed that both parties needed to abide by the Common Minimum Programme of the coalition.
The state government and Chief Minister Sayeed have been informed of the Central Government and the BJP's displeasure with Masarat Alam's release.
