With just hours before the results of the Lok Sabha elections are being announced, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are confident that the party will be able to register its victory.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesmen, Prakash Javadekar said, "Tomorrow is an important day for the democracy as the results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared. And we are very confident that the National Democratic Alliance will get maximum seats under the leadership of Narendra Modi."
Another leader and BJP candidate from Chandni Chowk constituency, Harshvardhan, said, "We are confident that the people of this country have decided to make Narendra Modi the prime minister. We will get more than 272 seats in these elections."
A majority of 272 seats in parliament is needed to form a government, although that is often achieved with outside support from regional parties.
India's staggered voting was spread over five weeks to reach the country's 815 million voters around its varied terrain.
Counting of votes will take place on Friday.
