Condemning the serial blasts in Bodhgaya, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said that the Central government should have taken the intelligence reports about a possible terror attack seriously instead of indulging in appeasement and vote-bank politics.
"We condemn the incident. When there were intelligent inputs, they should be taken seriously. Stringent actions should be taken," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
"If there were intelligence reports about a possible terror attack, then why was no action taken. Those who are trying to control the Intelligence Bureau for vote-bank should think about this," Prasad added.
Meanwhile, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi accused the Centre of failing to uncover the terror network responsible for such attacks.
"If even after specific information, there was no action, it is total failure of the government," Naqvi said.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar also condemned the attack, saying that both centre and the state governments should taken stern steps to ensure that such acts don't happen again.
Two people were injured in a series of blasts inside the Mahabodhi temple in Bihar's Bodhgaya district this morning.
According to reports, the first blast took place inside the temple complex shortly after 5 a.m., followed by seven successive explosions.
Another bomb was reportedly found near the temple, and was defused. According to television reports, there is no damage to the temple complex in the blast.
