Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday for not addressing the issues of the people.
"The situation in Uttar Pradesh is very bleak. There are reports of rapes and murders everyday. We have performed the last rites of the Akhilesh Yadav government today. We want to know what happened to the promises made by the Uttar Pradesh government on providing laptops, employment opportunities and youth empowerment," said a protestor.
"We also want to know what happened to the We want the government to do something about the increasing numbers of crime against women in the state as well as the woes of the farmers. They are not doing anything about it," he added.
Yesterday, Yadav presented the 2014-15 budget focusing mainly on development of the state.
The government has closed the three main schemes Berojgaari Bhatta, Kanya Vidyadhan and free Laptops.
The SP government stressed on development of the state by focusing mainly on infrastructure and energy.
Akhilesh announced the expansion of women's helpline 1090 to ensure the safety of women in the state. He also announced Samajwadi Pension Scheme, which will provide benefits to 40 lakh families in the state.
