The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched a frontal attack on the Janata Dal (United) Government in Bihar over the Aurangabad Naxal attack, saying Chief Minister Nitish Kumar always sings different tunes as far as tackling the ultras are concerned.
BJP General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy condemned the Naxal attack in Aurangabad, and said it is a matter which deserves the attention of the Central Government.
"We need a clear cut direction and a policy vision from the Union Government, including the Bihar Government, whether they actually want to contest and fight out or battle out Naxalism; it is a big question which the BJP would like to ask Chief Minister of Bihar who has been always singing different tunes as far as the Maoists are concerned," he added.
Five security personnel, including three state policemen, were killed yesterday when armed Naxals attacked them during construction of a culvert in Bihar's Aurangabad district.
Heavily-armed Maoists arrived at the culvert in Goh area in Aurangabad district and exploded bombs in a bid to destroy it.
A gunfight erupted when a police contingent in the form of reinforcement reached the spot on getting the information about the attack by the ultras.
The Maoists fired at the security personnel who retaliated.
Security forces have launched a massive combing operation against the ultras in the area.
The Maoists, who are considered to be India's greatest internal security threat, have off late intensified their operations in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and some areas of West Bengal.
