The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ruled out a nationwide ban on beef and said that it is for the states to take a decision on it keeping in mind the sentiments of the people.
BJP president Amit Shah said wherever there is a government led his party, the sentiments of the people will be considered before imposing ban on beef.
"The party has not said that beef will be banned across the country," he said.
The BJP chief, however, made it clear that his party would not be insisting on imposing ban on beef in all the states it is in power, leaving it to the respective governments to take a final call in this regard.
