BJP's 'dirty mind department' trying to defame me, says Vishwas

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas on Tuesday questioned the NDA Government's stand on women issues and accused the BJP's 'dirty mind department' of posting his pictures with the party's woman volunteer in the wrong way to defame him.

"Has the Delhi police or the government thought about protecting the dignity of women. If the BJP dirty mind department thinks that they would post such pictures and the Delhi police won't do anything about it and you would run the news for the whole day, nobody would be able to get justice," said Vishwas.

When asked whether he had received a notice from the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW), he said, "I haven't received any notice from anyone. Besides, you should go to the man who needs a character certificate from another man for his wife. I want to ask the media how they would feel if something similar had happened with your sisters and daughters at home. You should go to the trolls who have posted her pictures in the wrong way," he added.

AAP leader Somnath Bharti said there is no question of Vishwas going anywhere without a notice.

"There is no question of him going there without any notice. If somebody should be accused, that person should be her husband and not anyone else. In today's progressive society, he is leaving her on such frivolous grounds," said Bharti.

Vishwas has not appeared before the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) today and has also denied receiving a notice from the latter.

Kumar's alleged refusal to appear before the DCW came even as its chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party's charisma is gradually diminishing in the eyes of the general public.

Vishwas has been accused of having a physical relationship with a volunteer in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Vishwas had unsuccessfully contested against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in the general elections.

The victim has alleged that Vishwas's wife has been spreading rumours that she found him in a compromising position with the poet-turned politician. She has also alleged that she is being defamed on social media.

Vishwas had, however, yesterday termed the woman's allegations as baseless and put the onus on the Delhi Police which he said did not take any action on her complaint. He also accused the media of

twisting the entire story to malign the party's image.
