Asserting that the Indian flag has the power to unite, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said the saffron party will this year celebrate the Independence Day in a unique way with all party MPs taking out a 'tiranga' yatra across the nation.
Thakur told ANI that every Indian wants to hoist the Indian flag and wants to fight for its respect which is why the BJP will carry out a week-long celebration where the people from cities to villages will take out processions celebrating the Independence Day.
"Every year we celebrate Independence Day with full pride and enthusiasm. This year, we will take out processions across the nation with our Indian flag as it is not just a cloth but has immense power which unites 125 crore Indians," said Thakur.
"Every Indian wants to hoist the nation's flag and sustain its pride. This Independence Day from 15th August to 22nd August, for a week all the MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate the day with lakhs and lakhs of people, who along with people on foot or on motor bikes will take out yatras," he added.
The BJP MPs will carry out 'tiranga yatra' for a week from August 15-22 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Independence Day.
According to reports, the preparations in this regard have begun, but the final plans will be declared following a discussion with its BJP president Amit Shah.
