The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday backed Swaraj Abhiyaan leaders' criticism of the Lokpal Bill proposed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government, saying Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been making big promises but has always failed on their implementation.

"Whatever he used to say before the Delhi Assembly elections, none of them is visible in the Lokpal Bill," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

"Those, who were there with him in drafting the bill are also not appreciating the legislation. Therefore, he should tell the people whether he has been able to fulfill the promise through this bill or not," he added.

Swaraj Abhiyaan leaders, including senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan and his father Shanti Bhushan, have trashed the AAP Government's Lokpal Bill describing it as 'shocking' and 'a big joke'.

The duo has demanded Kejriwal's resignation, saying he had come to power on the promise of providing a strong and independent anti-corruption watchdog but failed.

The Delhi Government has extended the ongoing Winter Session of the state assembly by a week to enable passage of the bill.
