"When a woman goes to a police station to free her husband, instead of helping her, the woman is teased, an attempt of rape takes place and she is burnt alive. And, Akhilesh Yadav instead of taking strict action against the criminals suspends them for show," said the BJP leader.

"Even in an earlier incident of Shahjahanpur, the journalist had in his dying declaration said that there was an attempt of burning him alive. But the accused Cabinet ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government were given protection. Akhilesh Yadav was seen to cover up the whole situation," he added.
Journalist Jagendra Singh was allegedly set on fire by Uttar Pradesh policemen last month during a raid at his house in Sadar Bazar, Shahjahanpur.
