Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday alleged that the BJP's protest was aimed at hiding the failures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and accused the saffron party of trying to create a law and order problem in Assam so that President's rule is imposed in the state.

"The BJP's protest today was just to cover up Modi Government's failure in fulfilling the promises...The BJP is trying to create a law and order problem in the state at any cost and wants to impose President's rule here," Gogoi told the media here.

"The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has failed on its promises such as bringing back black money, controlling inflation, deporting illegal immigrants, job creation," he added.

The BJP's state unit today organised a march to Dispur to protest against the alleged corrupt rule of the Congress government.

The BJP, which is exuding confidence in repeating the success of the Lok Sabha elections last year in the state assembly polls, had earlier said that it would expose 'misrule' of the incumbent government.
