The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday condemned the unfurling of Pakistani flag by Dukhtaran-e -Millat (DeM) activists in Srinagar, saying those attempting to disturb peace in the valley would not be spared.

"A fitting reply would be given to anyone who tries to disturb peace in the valley or anywhere in India. In fact, no one, whosoever, he or she may be, tries to unfurl the Pakistani flag on the soil of India, would be spared," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.

"As far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, approximately more than 70 percent of the people voted for the formation of this government. The kind of mandate that was given, it was almost by extrapolation of the mandate that PDP-BJP combine formed the government."

"Only one aim that we are pursuing is development of Jammu and Kashmir and under no circumstance, any force or any power outside or inside the state would be allowed to hijack the development," he added.

Radical women's outfit Dukhtaran-e -Millat (DeM) today unfurled Pakistan's flag and sang its national anthem on the country's Independence Day on the outskirts in Srinagar.

A group of DeM activists led by Asiya Andrabi had gathered in Bachpora area on the outskirts of the city.
