The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday welcomed the move by former union minister and Congress leader Krishna Tirath to join its ranks, stating that such inductions were due to the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision for Delhi and everyone wants to be with the party that promises and delivers on growth. That has resulted in such a mass exodus from other parties by people wishing to join the BJP," party secretary Shrikant Sharma told ANI.

The Congress however refrained from commenting over the switch by the former union minister.

"We have received this information from you [the media]. When we know more about this, we shall speak in detail," Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Arvinder Singh Lovely told mediapersons.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Manish Sisodia has accused the BJP and Congress of working together due to their 'fear' of party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

"Kejriwal is the biggest threat to the Congress and the BJP. They are wondering what will happen to their politics driven by corruption and commissions if this honest man comes into power. They both want to get together and beat Kejriwal," he said.

"For all I know, the two parties may have colluded together," he added.

Earlier in the day, Tirath set the rumour mills alight after meeting BJP chief Amit Shah and Delhi unit president Satish Upadhyay.

Tirath was reportedly upset with her former party because the central leadership had rejected her request of a Congress Party ticket for one of her children to contest in the Delhi state assembly elections.
