The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday described the United Nations (UN) decision of not entertaining Pakistan's letter to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on de-escalating tension with India as a welcome step and stated that this was yet another proof of Islamabad being shown its place.
"Yet again the United Nations has snubbed Pakistan and has rejected its request. This shows that Pakistan has been yet again cornered in the international forum," BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told ANI here.
"Not only India, but the whole world today knows the reality that Pakistan sponsors terrorist activities and if Pakistan believes and wishes in peace, then it has to shun terrorism, it has to shun ceasefire violation and infiltration," he added.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur agreed, saying, "I welcome the UN's decision. Pakistan has been shown its place by the UN and should get the message loud and clear."
Thakur also stated that in order to deflect attention from its home grown problems, such moves were initiated by Islamabad. "India has won three wars against Pakistan and our strength is much higher compared to Pakistan. In order to deflect the attention of what's going on inside Pakistan against Nawaz Sharif, they are firing across the border," he added.
Pakistan's efforts to seek UN intervention on Jammu and Kashmir issue has failed, with the world body reiterating the fact that India and Pakistan need to resolve all differences through dialogue to find a long-term solution to the dispute.
Pakistan National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, had accused India of "deliberate and unprovoked violations of the ceasefire agreement and cross-border firing" over the past weeks.
