ANI Kolkata (West Bengal) (India)

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led-West Bengal government and said the BJP would emerge as a single largest party in the state in 2019 parliamentary elections.

Addressing a press conference here, Shah alleged that the West Bengal government has pushed the state on the last step of development.

"The state is going downwards on the development front under the Trinamool rule. Every fifth person in the state is working below the poverty line," said Shah.

The BJP chief further alleged that "the West Bengal government has failed to curb the counterfeit currency circulation in the state".

Sounding the poll bugle for 2019 parliamentary elections, Shah announced that the party would emerge as a single largest party in West Bengal.

Replying a question, the BJP leader said that "these days Mamata is only speaking against the BJP, which must concern the communists".
