Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti has said that her party will not tolerate attacks on its leaders and workers, and will take strict action where needed.
Commenting on the recent attacks on BJP leaders, Bharti said, "BJP will not tolerate this, and we will make efforts for this, and if the state government doesn't do anything, then we will be ready for hand-to-hand combat."
She described the situation as very serious.
"This is a very worrisome trend. If an MP can be shot like this, by the grace of god she was unhurt, then the state government, should be ashamed of themselves," she said.
"We will be ready for face-to-face fight against police and the system and Akhilesh Yadav should remember that we have our options open," she added.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, a newly elected BJP MP, was attacked on Saturday by three persons. but managed to escape unhurt.
Jyoti said she was attacked while returning from the Avas Vikas Colony after attending a function.
One of three attackers, Bhanu Patel, was nabbed by the police, while the other two were chased away by the villagers.
A hunt is on to find the other attackers.
