The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday sought action from the Centre over the revelation of nearly 1200 Indians hold accounts in Swiss banks.
"Now the names are in the public domain... The government cannot say, the government is unaware of these names... Already, the government has submitted a few names to the Supreme Court. Now, what the country needs is action by the BJP Government," CPI leader D Raja told ANI.
The CPI leader also demanded action from the Centre with regard to black money.
"It is of no use promising something at the time of elections and giving different interpretations after elections. If the BJP is very sincere in fighting black money, now, this is the moment the BJP Government will have to act and bring all those names before the court of law and let the black money be unearthed. Let the government get back the money which genuinely belongs to the nation and the people," he said.
According to a report in a leading daily, HSBC's list of Indians holding accounts in Swiss banks doubled to 1195 names. Earlier, French authorities had given the government a list of 628 names in 2011.

In December 2014, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had submitted a report to the Supreme Court, which revealed that persons on the HSBC list held Rs. 4,479 crores in Swiss banks.
In an official statement released by the SIT, it had said that out of 628 names on the HSBC list received from France, 201 are either non-residents or non-traceable, leaving 427 persons' cases as actionable cases.
The Supreme Court had directed the Centre to ensure that the ongoing probe on those suspected of stashing black money in bank accounts abroad is completed by March.
Recovering the black money stashed abroad was also a prominent topic in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's election manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls.
