A new study has revealed that climate change could be blamed for extreme and slow weather pattern changes in places like Texas and India.
Scientists predicted that more of these extreme weather fluctuations like the flooding that killed at least 30 people recently in the southern plains, while damaging or destroying thousands of homes and on the other side of the world, the extraordinary heat wave that killed more than 2,000 in India, could be seen in future, CBS News reported.
The researchers from Rutgers University offered an explanation for why climate change in the arctic was slowing the jet stream over the northern hemisphere, leaving the weather increasingly prone to repeat.
Climatologist Dave Robinson said that everything slows, and with it weather patterns persist over areas for longer periods of times that could make a wet situation dangerously wet, it could make a heatwave dangerously long.
The National Weather Service's Chris Vaccaro said that the phenomenon can happen any time.
