ANI Kabul

Minutes before Ashraf Ghani was sworn in as the new president of Afghanistan, a suicide bomber attacked a security checkpoint near the airport in Kabul.

It was not immediately clear as to how many people had been killed and wounded in the incident.

The attack came as dignitaries gathered in Kabul for Ghani's inauguration. He is taking over from Hamid Karzai, who has been president since 2001.
