Leona Lewis, who broke the records with her debut single 'Bleeding Love', has been dropped by her record label Island Records just weeks before her debut in the musical cats.

The 31-year-old singer, who signed to Island Records last year following her split from Simon Cowell's Syco, experienced a bumpy ride in the charts, despite their best efforts to propel her career, Channel.24 reports.

Confirming the news, a source said, "It simply didn't work out with Island. She made a great record and the label really championed her but something just didn't click."

It is being said that the singer's first single 'Fire Under My Feet' from her fifth studio album was released under Island Records, was a commercial flop as it sold a mere 8 500 copies in its first week.

Additionally, the Label executives might hold a meeting with Lewis in the coming days to discuss her future, as they don't want to cut ties with her completely.
