A 13-point proposal on the reformation of the Election Commission has been submitted by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to the President Abdul Hamid.
The proposal was submitted on behalf of the BNP party chief Khaleda Zia by party's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday, reports the Dhaka Tribune.
The proposal was handed over to the president's secretary by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and advisor to BNP Chairperson Maj Gen (retd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury.
Earlier, the president's press secretary Joynal Abedin, said, "As per Article 118 of the Constitution, the president will hold a dialogue with registered political parties before appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and commissioners. The dialogue will begin after December 16."
President Abdul Hamid left for Singapore today.
