In a friendly display of competition, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Indian-origin Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal bet against each other on the 2014 Outback Bowl in Florida last week, following which, the Iowa Republican now owes 200 pounds of pork to the winning state.
According to the Washington Times, Jindal tweeted on Dec 31st saying that if LSU wins, both IA and LA food bank will get 100 lbs of IA pork and if IA wins, LA will send 100 lbs of LA seafood to both LA and IA food bank.
Interestingly, the LSU won against the Hawkeyes, 21-14 and now the food banks are waiting to get the promised ham that is reportedly being procured from the Iowa Falls-based Iowa Select Farms.
Expressing his pleasure over donating Iowa pork to the food banks that help feed the ill-feds in local communities; Branstad thanked The Deb and Jeff Hansen Iowa Select Farms Foundation for their generosity.
The Governor also praised the Iowa Hawkeyes for their commendable effort in the Outback Bowl against Louisiana State University.
According to the news release, the transaction will not involve the tax-payers' money.
