Militants have killed at least 33 people and kidnapped about 200 in north-eastern Nigeria, a survivor said.

He said that militants stormed the village of Gumsuri and seized young men, women and children, reported the BBC.

The attack took place in Sunday but the news emerged later after survivors reached the city of Maiduguri.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, Nigerian terror group Boko Haram is the prime suspect.

The state of Borno has seen at least two militant attacks over the past few days.

The jihadist violence has claimed more than 2,000 lives in north-eastern Nigeria this year alone.
